Rendezvous, The Kiss

This is the first painting of a "couple" that I have undertaken . . . and certainly the first kiss I have painted. I love the interactions of body, clothes, light, shade etc . . I need to paint a group scene soon.

Rendezvous, The Kiss:
He had been waiting for some time on a London Square with his blue bag beside him, looking a little on edge, expectant. He was looking about, obviously waiting for someone . . . then the girl walked slowly into the picture, his whole demeanour changed, his body language became more positive, confident and somehow more relaxed . . . then she lent in for a kiss, the scene was complete.

No life should go without these moments . . . the expectation, looking through the crowd for a loved one . . . glimpsing them on their approach, slight butterflies in the stomach, anticipation . . . the first touch . . . a kiss . . .  and life is complete again.

This painting has been accepted for the London Lives: Travel exhibition at the Bankside Gallery on the South Bank in London. The exhibition runs from 9- 18 September 2011.
